This cute little Japanese restaurant is located on the corner of Flamingo Rd & Pines Blvd behind the McDonald's. I was in the mood for some sushi & wanted to try some place new. Of course, Yelp was my go-to source & it uncovered Mikan as a new business in the area that was hot & new! I looked over the menu online & found their prices in line with most sushi restaurants in the area. I called in for pickup and ordered their Brickell Maki roll and another item that has escaped me. All I know is that I picked it up and devoured it when I got home. There was not one single complaint that could be made about the food. When I went into the restaurant, it is on the smaller side but it was cozy and welcoming. The employees were friendly and made every effort to get me along my way very quickly. I loved that part the best. I'm glad that there is a new sushi option in Pembroke Pines where I can dine in or pick up and receive the same quality service.

Great Japanese food and environment. Relaxed and up to date inside interior look too. When arriving, they greeted me and sat me down rather quick. Service went well however the waitress, though helpful, confused our order 2 times. After requesting shrimp tempura sushi rolls, I kept receiving items that contain shrimp tempura but weren't sushi rolls at all. Lastly, I was told they didn't have the sushi rolls, but only the hand roll shrimp tempura. Decided to give those a whirl but was a bit disappointed on it-- the taste was great but the size and pricing for the roll set me back. For a recommendation, I'd say try the Chicken Teriyaki with Jasmine hot tea. I personally didn't get to try that much sushi, only he hand roll (small taste of their sushi, but I'd definitely recommend to try out their fresh sushi rolls too.

We came here in search of more Ramen options in our area... walked into a small but warm & cozy feeling dining room w/ amber lighting and was told to sit anywhere we liked. Cool! We hopped into one of the booths and our server came right away to take our drink orders. Of course since we came for ramen, we had a few questions on her take of their ramen. She was friendly and informative being sure to let me know the kimchee ramen (which i could not wait to try) was a little spicy. We started out with the Spicy tuna Nachos and then the Champon & Kimchee Ramen as our entrees. The tuna nachos came out in 3 bite size pieces topped w/ avocado and seaweed salad. Presentation was pretty, but I feel they should have given us 4 pieces given that we are 2 people (the 3 pieces were pretty small even for 1). The tuna was tossed in what tasted like sesame oil and very fresh. Loved the freshness of the tuna, the nutty, ripe avocado and the seaweed salad on top was a nice cooling touch to go w/ the crunchy wonton "nacho". Next came our ramen noodles. My husband received his bowl of Champon first (we waited another 10 minutes until my ramen came out.. I'm from the school of thought that you serve everyone's main course together so they can start eating together but ok..). His Champon was comprised of: pork broth noodle soup with fish cake, pork, squid and vegetables. Very similar to a tonkotsu broth but had more of a seafood flavor to it. My Kimchee had: spicy pork broth noodle soup with bamboo shoot, bean sprout, egg, fish cake, kimchee and pork. Both came in HUGE bowls!! Both were good, the champon had a more creamy, smooth taste whereas the kimchee was very spicy even though my server told me she would have the kitchen make a mild version (I'm pretty sure she forgot to mention this to them) but it's fine because I knew it would be somewhat spicy either way. So overall we really enjoyed our ramen but it's definitely not the best we've had (not the richest broth). Mikan has an edge over other Japanese places just for serving the Kimchee Ramen because you won't find it elsewhere. Next time I'm in the mood to light my mouth on fire, I know where to come ;)

So glad we found this little gem! It's a cute little Japanese restaurant tucked into a strip mall. We had read in the BPB New Times that this restaurant had a great pork bone broth ramen that I HAD to try. Coming from NYC where we have several wonderful ramen shops, it saddens me that it remains elusive here in south Florida. I went with my husband and kids to hopefully end my quest for some decent ramen. When we got there, we were promptly seated and given menus. All I wanted was the tonkatsu ramen so I barely glanced at the menu. My husband is a big fan of donburi so he ordered the katsudon. My eldest, who will be 8 next month, loves sushi so we got the nigiri deluxe as well. We also got a starter to share - the pokeball. It's a little ball of poke (marinated raw fish) which was actually quite good and was perfect to whet our already ravenous appetites. We ate our dishes family style since I have young(er) children and surprisingly, even my 4 year old ate a varied sampling of all three dishes. The portion sizes are good, not ridiculously large but definitely generous. The katsudon was good, but not better than some of our other favorite Japanese restaurants. The sushi was fresh so that was a plus. But the star here and what will keep this restaurant on a fairly regular rotation was the ramen. This is my first encounter with a ramen reminiscent of what I've had in NY. The pork broth was salty, creamy and full-bodied as I had hoped. I will still be on the lookout for the best ramen in BPB, but until then, this one's a keeper! I definitely will go back to try their other ramen offerings and to sample some of their specials.

I love, love, love Mikan!! I can't even single out a single item on their menu because I'm never disappointed no matter what I order. My favorite so far has been the sushi for 2, you get unbelievably fresh sushi for a more than reasonable price (anyone who loves sushi knows that to get fresh, quality sushi you'd better be ready to pay up for it). We've had most of the sushi rolls as well as some of the soups and ramen. The soup and ramen are always served piping hot and they are constantly passing by to make sure you have a full glass of water. We always love to finish our meal with some Thai doughnuts. Not only do I love Mikan because of the quality of their food but they have ah-mazing service as well. They are all so friendly and always come over to talk and play with my son. I don't know their names but the Filipina and blonde lady are always so kind and making sure we are enjoying our meal. It doesn't have that typical South Florida eat and rush you out vibe which is why Mikan is my go to place when I want Japanese. I just wish they would deliver west to where I live (boo!) but it is most definitely worth the drive that I will keep making.

OoOoOoOo lawd, yes. This is the Pembroke Pines noodle joint. Yaki Soba & Udon noodles so delicious, you'll forget you're in the middle of nowhere suburbia. Kimchee! They have Kimchee and not just appetizers. They have KIMCHEE ENTREES. The curry noodle is on point, as well. I'm allergic to seafood so I'll spare you my sob story about watching my date eat Fried Oyster Rolls. Peach Sake was worth a try if you've never ventured into the fruity sakes or if you're an established connoisseur. Anyway, go nuts. Its all good. ;)

Why must I live 40+ mins away from Pines? And why are you closed on Mondays? I crave your Spicy Crunchy Roll so much, I came back up on a Monday night. (More accurately, why didn't I check Yelp for their hours of op before trekking my way to Pines? lol) Came here a week ago with the boy, and absolutely looooved everything we tried. Our orders and thoughts: APPETIZERS *** Pokeball: Definitely refreshing; of the 5 dishes we ordered, this was our 2nd most favorite dish. If you're looking for an app, please try this! :D *** Tuna Yukke: The boy and I are salmon fans, so we asked if they could sub out the tuna for salmon, and our server was completely cool with it :) No extra charge! This was spicy and yum, but we def preferred the Pokeball's flavor. MAINS *** Spicy Crunchy Roll: Please. Get. This. This is a rice roll, rolled in masago, wrapped around spicy salmon and tempura flakes (maybe some other stuff, too). Holy moly, the flavor of the roll is ridiculously tasty. This is what I crave now when I think of sushi rolls, lol! I have finally found something that replaces my love for Moon's Four Seasons roll. The explosion of flavor once this touches your tongue (esp if you're a fan of salmon AND you like those crispy, crunchy tempura flakes) will make you want to never look at another sushi roll again. At least, that's how I feel - lol. The boy and I split all the dishes, and we had to fight over the last roll (even though it was an even 8 pieces - lol! He wanted my last roll! I had to fight him off with my chopsticks.) *** Katsu don: Okay, so one of our fav katsu don's is Sushi Ko's katsu don. And I have to say that this is on par with theirs. The flavor is perfect - neither over salted or overly sweet. :D The breaded pork is also perf, and the flavor of the rice, once everything is combined, is mmmmm! DESSERT *** Green Tea Ice Cream: Forgot to mention that we ordered the GTIC. Any time there's matcha/green tea flavored ice cream (or any dessert, really), I must try it. Alas, I'm still on the hunt for my holy grail of matcha ice creams, lol. This was good, but light on the green tea flavor. :) I like it when the matcha is strong (not the floral kind, too). So if you're like me, skip this - or taste for yourself! :) OFF THE MENU They have a couple boards by the main door that display other items you can order that aren't explicitly on the menu. :) We tried the $4 pork belly, and though it was tasty, it wasn't anything super special. The boy felt he could have made something similar, so that isn't something we'd order again. Something we ordered came with a soup or salad selection. Chose the salad, which was refreshing and crisp (no wilty leaves, whoo!). The ginger dressing was also delish. Everything we tried was delicious, honestly. The boy and I liked this place so much we drove all the way back up yesterday (Monday night). Sadly, for us, we weren't aware that they are closed on Mondays. So.. be aware that they are closed on Mondays! :'( Don't get your hopes up the way we did, only to feel your heart break (and your stomach cry) that they're closed - lol. (Nuuuu, my spicy crunchy roll... we will meet next time!)

In a sea of Thai-Japanese fusion restaurants (that are anything but authentic) finding a solid Japanese restaurant can be a challenge. With limited offerings here in SoFla, what is one to do when the craving for some authentic Japanese hits?! It's quite simple really: pay a visit to Mikan! This cozy little Japanese owned and operated restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming plaza. You'd never know a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant resided within its innards. What I like about Mikan is that it's small, quiet, and the food is very good. The owner Ike, is native born Japanese and has been a chef longer than I've been alive. If you speak to him in Japanese (which I always do) he'll speak right back, which is great! I've been to this little restaurant twice now and both times I've really enjoyed it. The first time I came I had the tonkotsu ramen, his ramen is very good and the broth he makes is creamy and delicious. Yesterday I had Uni/Ikura donburi. This is a classic Japanese sushi dish consisting of a small bed of sushi rice, a dollop of wasabi, Uni, Ikura, chopped Yamaimo (a type of Japanese yam) and two slices of tamago (Japanese cold sweet egg omelette) it was delicious! He used more mature Uni which has a more robust flavor than the delicate sweet Uni. In Japan this uni is known as "men's taste" which means it's for a man (but not really as anyone can enjoy it) the donburi was very good, not the best I've had though but his take on it was very good still and I ate the entire thing. It's important to note that they have Japanese imported Asahi....on draft! From a real Asahi draft machine!!!! Which is awesome!!! If you've only had Asahi from the can, then you're having the Canadian born version of Asahi. The draft machines are rigged to accept imported Asahi draft kegs and it's a real treat and compliments a Japanese meal exquisitely. If you're more of the sale drinker, they offer a decent selection of some staple Japanese brands that are sure to please. Service is always great and they always greet you with a smile. If you've never been give it a shot. You're sure to enjoy this place.

I came to Pembroke Pines for the annual car services, after looked up on yelp what is good around here, I decided to come to this Japanese restaurant as I read from many other yelpers that this is a Japanese owned authentic place. I arrived at 2:40pm, 20 mins before the place usually closes. Since it was a bit rush, I decided to order sushi since it is the fastest. The waitress is awesome, I was planning to order the sushi and sashimi for 1 for 25 dollars, but she told me that there is a similar lunch special for only 14 dollars and I should order that, and she said she can exchange the complimentary California roll in the menu to salmon roll for me. What a great and considerate service! As for the food, as you can see from my photo that the platter was in good size. Everything was really fresh, and the chef was very generous in putting fish inside the roll. But unfortunately, all this felt a bit rush and I can't really enjoy the food or order something that takes time to prepare. But overall, it was great experience and I would definitely come back to try more things! 85/100

This place will be open for about a year coming up soon ! Very nice place and food is yummy ! I ordered today Pokeball- good but I think it would be better if it wasn't cut up so tiny cause it's mooshy texture lil cubes would be better. I had to ask for more ponzu sauce Salmon carpaccio- like any other place good Tonkotsu ramen- flavor is ON POINT! Yummy in my tummy. I would've got spicy but I had a baby with me who can't eat spicy Volcano roll- it was good but not the best This is a new place for me and it was good so far I will be back to try other stuff on the menu! Menu have a variety of selection so that's a plus :)

This place made me a nipponophile! Love the fresh sushi, bento box lunches and great service. Can't wait to go back for some udon and sushi by the bar experience - the sushi masters are pros here! Try this place instead of the regular sushi buffet, better quality sushi and japanese food for the same price.

This was our first time here and we love them. Definitely coming back. We had a huge lunch for three including salmon sushi, shrimp hand roll, and a chicken be to box. The salmon nigiri is what I use to judge a sushi restaurant as its hard to hide bad fish. Theirs was AMAZING! Fresh with a texture of butter. Everything else, including the wait staff, was fantastic. Thanks again.

Started out with spicy conch -(conch is one is my favs) and deep fried softshell crab. The conch was fairly spicy mixed with sliced cucumber. Slightly too much salt for my taste but do not let that stop you - this was awesome. Softshell crab was slightly greasy which kind of took it down a notch for me - but again - do try it! Next up - eel roll with eel sauce - eel is fairly mild, so this while good doesn't excite me. I'd try a spicer version of it. The place has lots of business and is in a good location. As far as the insides - it's spotless- clean as a whistle. The wait staff wonderful - even in the face of the pushy 20's something self- absorbed girl who made a scene - Last up - trying Thai donuts - first time I've had them. When it comes to donuts - I luv Krispy kream glaze - if these were in a donut store they'd open a delicious bag of whoop a$$ on Krispy - these are the best I've had! Wow! Overall - solid 5 - I'll come here again.

Everything was great. Ordered two maki rows (volcano and something with mango), the sashimi appetizer, miso soups, and a seaweed salad. It was all good portions and we left feeling very satisfied. Spent around $50?

Went here for the first time today because of the reviews on yelp and we wanted to see what was all the ratings about.... first off we ordered the appetizer sampler and it was the bomb ... so hubby said he was sold base on the first dish but as a sushi lover I told him no wait til the salad comes out and see how they make their dressing and to see for the sushi is its fresh.... to my surprise everything was great they exceed my expectations of the dressing and the sushi was fresh as it can get... not to mention we got the bento box specials and we got to switch up the sushi rolls for what ever rolls we wanted and so we picked the spicey tuna rolls ... and yes it was spicey in a good way at least ... it was at the right amount of spicey and at no extra cost to switch I was thinking they will cost extra for switching up the menu like other places but nope bill came out as it should and lemonade was free refills so that was a plus ... we highly recommended this place to anyone ... and we will be back soon...

I loved the food when this restaurant was in downtown Miami. I love it still. Seems like it has gotten better actually. The tempura anything is great. Very light and crunchy, never soggy and greasy. The sushi always tastes fresh and the udon is delish! My hubby and I easily share the bento (any of them) since they give you MORE than enough to pass around. The restaurant has a casual yet intimate feel. I really enjoy the ambiance. It's small but I never feel like I'm sitting right on top of my neighbors. The service has been pleasant every visit; even our to-go experiences were pleasant. I have nothing negative to say about Mikan. No complaints, seriously. I'm so happy I have a quality Japanese restaurant right around the corner. Arigato!

So I finally tried their noodles and so was delish. I have been ordering sushi from them for the past 2 months and I love it. Very fresh and delicious. But went for lunch and tried their noodles. I can't get over how good it is. If you are craving for some Japanese noodles and this is the place to go.

Amazing service! I came in 30 min before closing time, and was expecting to get some mean looks.... But I was completely thrown when the staff was so nice! I ordered the salmon carpaccio (eh), bagel handroll (yum), mini sashimi and sushi (fresh fish/thickly cut slices), and nabeyaki udon which was delightful! Will be returning soon :)

I am notorious for being a picky eater but wanted to try something new and try an authentic Japanese restaurant since a Japanese friend of mind kept suggesting it, I've never had sushi and will try it next time i go since this was my first visit, so today I ordered the Yaki Udon with chicken and to sum it up I was blown away with how good it was. I was truly amazed and impressed I will definitely go back and try something new again. Its been a long time since I've been so surprised by how delicious something new I tried was and I'm not exaggerating either. :) The staff was very polite and attentive as well, very friendly and a nice place.

I am torn between rating this with a 3 or a 4 because it's a solid 3.5. But knowing how thrilled I am with 4 star businesses, I have to go with a 3. SERVICE: Never before did we have so many people come to our table to serve us! We found out that some of the servers are training so we had a few of them stop by until they were stumped by the menu or just moved on to see other tables. The owner/manager stopped by and so did a couple of servers and our main server, Shawn. She was great - and they all tried to be helpful (refills, boxes, etc.) but we seriously had about 5 people working our table. It was dizzying - 3 people took our beverage order and just as many were going to get us a bag for the leftovers. FOOD: We had the appetizer sampler, which has tuna, salmon, and hamachi with slices of jalapeno, chopped scallions, etc. Each was good except for the seaweed salad that tasted like a mouthful of chewy sesame oil. The hamachi kama was the best thing we had - roasted fish collar with a sprinkling of salt; while delicious it cost $10 whereas other restaurants charge $12 to $14 for two. We had 2 pieces of sea urchin sushi that was creamy. The 'grilled' whole squid tasted great but was incredibly chewy and didn't appear to be grilled; I wish it was cooked a bit more or less so it would have been more tender. The grilled salmon bento box was chock full of food - the salad and ginger dressing were fresh; the eggplant, broccoli, shrimp, and sweet potato tempura was tasty (according to hubby - I only had a small bite of shrimp because I'm not a fan of fried food); the salmon was delicious but the sauce made it very salty, the 2 gyoza had great meat filling but was a bit oily on the outside ( I only had a bite of the meat because it was fried instead of steamed but hubby ate them); and the California roll that they made with tuna instead of krab, per our request, was tasty but they used chopped tuna and I don't like that because I feel that it's the bits and pieces laying around - I would have preferred slices of tuna. We took home the salmon and salad, half the California roll and the squid. The restaurant was packed, all the servers were pleasant, and the food was good - it didn't knock our socks off but it was solid.

Yay! Found another sushi go-to spot near my zip code! Broward sushi addicts take note:This place serves nothing but fresh. As such, the menu selections change daily and your mouth waters regularly. From deliciously chewy (in a good way) fish jerky to pork belly, there is so much to feast upon in addition to beautifully prepared sashimi and sushi, rolls... yum! Mikan used to be located in Brickell and lucky for us Broward residents, they moved to a nondescript little plaza off of Pines Blvd. Service is very attentive and the owner/ main chef is always on property to ensure a great experience. Even the house Chardonnay is tasty. Wow. Love this place and am now craving sushi (or as my son calls it, "shooshi") at 10am!

This IS a JAPANESE restaurant. The real deal! They are located in a strip mall complex, but don't let that hold you back. The inside is very tasteful and they have a decent amount of tables to sit at. The owners and staff are all very friendly and will help decipher anything on the menu you are unsure of. This place offers a lunch special during the week AND on the weekends!!!!!!! We came here Sunday and loved to see we were able to order from the lunch specials. **If you check in on yelp, they give you a seaweed salad on the house. The second she brought it to the table, I dove in with my chopsticks. I ordered the udon with tempura shrimp, crab stick, and chicken. It came in a clay pot and was incredibly hot (the way all soups should be served!). They brought along a smaller bowl to portion soup into, as well as a special Japanese spice powder to mix in. My fiance ordered the octopus carpaccio and loved it. He said it was made perfectly, thin slices, fresh etc. He went with the classic miso ramen. The noodles were to-die-for. Cooked to perfection! The broth was a nice cream consistency and the pork and egg were nice additions. This soup was also served with a Japanese pepper shaker. We could not leave with out trying some sushi, and we were already full, so we ordered 2 pieces of tamago. I find the simplest sushi to be the best judge of character for a restaurant. The rice was sticky and the seaweed crisp. The tamago tasted like it was made in house. Loved it!!! This is definitely my new favorite Japanese Restaurant. They have a large menu, so I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. This place is worth the drive!

During my (multiple) daily scroll through social media, I see my friend has posted sushi and ramen. "Ohh, that looks good. Where's that? JAPAN!? Aww man!" Well too late. My stomach is now craving ramen... even though I've never had any other ramen except Cup Noodles or Maruchan. So I choose Mikan as my first restaurant ramen experience ever! The menu is filled with lots of great choices that I almost wanted to change my mind, but I was on a mission. When my huge bowl of ramen came out, I already knew I wouldn't finish it. Definitely better than microwave ramen, and still just as good the next day as leftovers. Maybe it was because we had an early dinner and no one was there yet, or maybe it really is just how they are, but service was great. Chef brought over a fresh fish for us to look at as the special of the day to try to entice us into ordering it. Server patiently explain menu items to us and helped us choose our meals. Mikan, I'll be back to try the rest of your entrees!

Let's be honest, who would've thought that a sushi restaurant sandwiched between a Publix and a Wal-Mart SuperCenter would be delicious? Oh, but delicious it was! Mikan, although randomly located, did not disappoint at all. I came here on a Thursday evening and it was surprisingly busy for such a small restaurant. I would say that 5 of the 10-12 tables were occupied. This restaurant is pretty small so the parties are relatively close together which a minor downside for me. To start, I ordered the house salad with ginger dressing. The ginger dressing is very natural. By this I mean that it is not that bright yellow color that is drenched over the salads in most Japanese restaurants. This one looked as if it was made from fresh ginger and offered subtle flavor throughout the salad. Very tasty! For my main course, I ordered the Nigiri; which is 7 pieces of sushi and a tuna roll. The tuna roll was excellent and the 7 pieces of sushi were pretty good as well. My only negative about this place would be that they lack the sushi selection that other sushi restaurants not too far from this one offer. Overall though, Mikan is definitely worth checking out.

5 stars for great, friendly, no fuss service! I really like their sushi bar, it's very modern and fancy. Ramen was OK. Dunno if I'd order again. Ordered gyoza and chicken liver and the chicken liver had too much sauce on it but the gyoza tasted homemade, I felt like I was eating a pillow! It was very delicious but they give you very little for the price you're paying. A really good place to bring a date! Didn't try the sushi but I think I'll be going back to try it! Mikan is better than most SoFlo Asian restaurants (I'm Asian by the way).

I met here with a friend after seeing some great reviews here. I sat down and the waitress made some suggestions and brought out the wine I ordered as I waited for my friend to arrive. Everything is really clean and tidy, including the bathrooms. I noticed they have some great lunch specials for both newbie sushi eaters and hard core sushi fans. I didn't end up ordering off the lunch menu because I wanted to try a more decadent, raw sushi roll. It was tasty, albeit a little bit smaller than I expected. But we both liked our sushi, it wasn't anything out of this world, but I would absolutely come again.

Sushi was so fresh and delicious, i love the crunchy rolls with tuna and avocado. The hot sake wine keep my stomach warm and preventing from stomach hurt( waitress told me that) because this is my first time tried sushi. It worked a lot. I did not have any problem at all with my stomach at that time. However, the owner was a little rude when i asked him about the price, but waitress was so friendly. I wish to come back soon to tried more food.

The food is delicious, I was in the mood for traditional Japanese food and I got it. The udon is perfect and enormous, and the curry just right and it hit the spot. I have definitely found my new place. Also I am very picky about bathrooms and theirs is kept very clean. Very happy with my new find.

Guilty of having sushi cravings this is place is really starting to warm up to me. Although my second experience was a quick sit down, it didn't take away from the welcome and wholesome food brought to us. They also migrated from Brickell to Pines which to my favor is more accessible minus the traffic. If you're looking for Japanese authenticity you can surely get your fix here. My honey and I are always looking to try something new and one of the 'board specials' had Ankimo (fish liver), "sure!" we said. Not like any liver I've had before, easily broken apart and soaked in ponzu sauce. Another 'board' item we had was the pork belly, very tasteful and savory but as expected, fatty. We also had their Champion ramen and wow, the aroma was already pleasing. This bowl was loaded with seafood and the pork broth accompanied well with it, which evidently made it feel lighter than your usual tonkotsu. Definitely one of our favorite picks. Another suggestive pick is the Pokeball. I totally have to take a sentence or two to commend how pretty this dish looks. I mean, go see for yourself in the yelp pictures. Half way through the poke I even remembering commenting how decadent the pieces were. We enjoyed every bit of it while it lasted. Overall had a nice experience during the times we sat here and just a heads up for those that are using the yelp offer, it's once per person. Enjoy!

Just left this place, the place is small but very quaint. Music wasn't very high so you can almost hear the conversation of the 30 other people that the place holds, if you truly wanted to. But other than that everything came out in a timely fashion, presented very well and tasted very good. Everything seems well priced and the place looks pretty clean. The four stars are deserving, the food wasn't amazing status, IT is however very good just not the best I had and for that I gave it four, I would truly give it 4.5 if the option was available.

The best Japanese restaurant ever! Why did you have to move so far away from Brickell!! My favorites are the spicy crunchy tuna roll and the noodle soups!! Delicious! :))) I'll see you soon Ike!

OH.MY.GOD. I have been craving a good bowl of udon for a long time. And voila! I found the most delicious bowl at Mikan. I arrived pretty late with my boyfriend (about thirty minutes before closing, I believe), and the staff was so very nice and attentive. When asked if we could get extra salmon instead of white fish, the waitress gladly obliged. Also ordered a JB hand roll and although it had more cream cheese than I would have liked, it was still excellent. This is probably gonna be one of our regular go-to Japanese restaurants, right next to Blue Ginger. Looking forward to the next time we drop by.

This is truly a hidden gem in a busy shopping plaza. This restaurant is a must try for anyone craving for authentic, no BS japanese food.

I was born and grew up in Japan and as much as I love South Florida, I've been missing authentic Asian food since I moved here. My friends know I'm always in search for good AUTHENTIC Japanese restaurants and often times when they do take me, I end up at Thai/Japanese restaurant owned by Thai. I love Thai food and there is nothing wrong about that...but the Japanese food I crave is not usually served at these restaurants. So when I found MIKAN IS OWNED BY JAPANESE and saw some nostalgic food items on the menu, I was excited and had to check out the restaurant. My first visit was weekday night but the restaurant was really busy. Yet, their CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT! I really felt like back home. They really make sure you are well taken care of with a smile. My friends had sushi and I took some bites of their sushi. It was good but I really recommend everybody to TRY NON-SUSHI ITEMS at this restaurant. In my opinion, they tastes better and more satisfying. Sushi is not the only thing Japanese cuisine can offer. So here's a couple of items on their menu that I liked and I recommended my non-Japanese friend who does not eat raw fish and want to be adventurous but didn't know what to pick: -Katsu Don (Pork cutlet & cooked egg/onion on top of white rice) -Katsu Curry (Pork cutlet with Japanese curry over white rice - don't like Indian curry or spicy food? Don't worry, Japanese curry is totally different from Indian curry) -Nabeyaki Udon (chicken, egg, shrimp tempura and vegetables with udon noodle in clear soup served in a Japanese hot pot) -Tonkotsu Ramen (when you see the price, don't think about the cheap instant ramen you buy at the store for 10cents, it is not even comparable.) My recommendations-go with a family style with friends and family and try different dishes! If I still cannot convince you to try this place, watch The Mind of a Chef by David Chang on Netflix. I guarantee you will be heading to Mikan for some good ramen/Japanese food.

Mikan is a small, low key spot. And when I say small I mean small. There is only about 10 booths in total, if that. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The sushi chefs greeted me as soon as I walked in since it's such a small intimate restaurant. Sushi was made and ready to eat in less then 10 mins. I always say it is so hard to find quality sushi in the Pembroke Pines/Miramar area. Now, Mikan is no Nobu but the fish they use is the freshest I could find anywhere in the entire Pembroke Pines/Miramar area. And I mean I have tried them all. Their fish is the best by far. I was assured by my waitress that they never freeze their fish and they're constantly getting fresh shipments in and believe me, you could taste the difference, the sushi was served at room temperature (which is the right way to serve sushi) which is also really hard to find in this area, I always find myself eating cold sushi which is just annoying. I ordered the Nigitoro Roll which is basically chopped up toro (fatty tuna) served with chopped scallions rolled up Hosomaki style. It was delicious, melt in your mouth Toro. You could still even see the natural oils of the fish. At $6 a roll (about 8 cut pieces) you can't beat that either. I will definitely be returning for more.

In need of a good sushi fix, I did the usual Yelp search to find something nearby. New kid on the block? Why not? A few people already left their rave reviews... Good AND affordable, I can dig it. This quaint little place has it going on. It's obviously new (had that new restaurant smell, you know?) and everything was spick and span. So far so good. There were a couple people there, it was a Wed at 6:30 so I wasn't expecting it to be packed either, not yet anyways. We were greeted nicely and quickly shown to our booth. Our server, an older lady with a contagious smile, told us "You came on the right day! $2.50 for beer, hot sake, and wine". What, what! Nice! Ordered some Sapporo Lights and sake! Since it was our first time there we asked what the popular dishes were. Our very knowledgeable server gave us the rundown. There were so many good things it was hard to choose. What we ordered: - Sampler appetizer: small portions of tuna tataki, yellowtail, salmon, seaweed salad. Very fresh and all were tasty. - Dancing eel roll & spicy crunchy roll: both very yummy, the spicy crunchy was my favorite - Champon noodles: this was my first time ever trying this dish and it did not disappoint! The broth was very flavorful and all of the ingredients were fresh and savory. Our server brought out some red pepper and onion powder with the soup and told us exactly what to do... lol, that was a nice touch. :) This family owned place has my 5 stars. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was impeccable. The other server, I'm assuming the owner's daughter, came around and asked us how everything was, even the owner himself came out and greeted us. You can tell it's not their first rodeo. I heard they had another restaurant and moved down to Pines, and you can tell. I'll be back lovely people, and I'll bring friends!

Had lunch with the family here and loved it! The food was really good and the restaurant was immaculate. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Just wish we lived a bit closer. We all ordered lunch Bento boxes and really enjoyed the food. My son and I both ordered the chicken katsu. Really yummy and would get the same thing again. Lunch was a little expensive for cheap Floridians but I guess you get what you pay for, right? Yummy!

This place is amazing. Cute and quiet, the music is very nice and low. The waitresses were fantastic, very nice and friendly and knew about the dishes so it made it a nice time to order. The food came out within 15-20 mins and it was absolutely delicious. I had never had potatoes in a Japanese restaurant, and when I saw these on the plate I was very surprised, I was even more surprised at how delicious they were. The food was fantastic, the waitresses were amazing, and the atmosphere was nice. Will come back and will recommend to all my friends!!

I loved, loved their Champon noodle soup! It was incredibly delicious and so flavorful! The price for the noddle soup is well-worth the size and yummyness! Most of the time other asian restaurant stuff the noddle bowl soups with just pure veggies and one or two pieces of meat but not Mikan. The pork broth was completely flavored and the amount of vegetables and meat they put in it is well-proportioned and balanced. I did not give this place a five because I have yet to try their sushi and other type of dishes; however, if the dishes are just as tasty, I will definitely edit the review!

This sushi restaurant is a hidden gem! We often order take out from there and decided to try eating in one night! Every time we've had it the sushi is always so fresh tasting! When eating in the restaurant we got to enjoy some delicious chili edamame, veggie fried rice and fried donuts which made for great additions to our sushi! We'll definitely be back!

(4.5 Stars really!) Like so many others, this is an unassuming restaurant that sits in one of the thousands of strip malls in South Florida. Inside, it looks like so many other sushi restaurants... small and dated, yet welcoming. I called in to reserve a table for 6 about an hour before we got there. And I am glad I did given the size of this restaurant. We ordered some Miso soups; a couple of salads; no less than 10 rolls, and a Ramen. The soup was fine as were the salads... nothing special. But once we got into the sushi rolls... some of the best I've had! F.R.E.S.H. The Bagel Roll (Salmon, Avocado & Cream Cheese) was excellent as was the California "Salmon" Roll (Salmon, Avocado & Cucumber). The Boston Roll (Shrimp, Avocado, Lettuce & Mayo) and Dragon Roll (Shrimp Tempura, Asparagus, Spicy Mayo Topped with Avocado, Masago, & Eel Sauce) were excellent as well. But, the best in show was the Kimchee Ramen. It was a spicy pork broth noodle soup with bamboo shoot, bean sprout, egg, fish cake, kimchee, and pork. When I tell you it was spicy, it was SPICY! Still, the noodles were perfectly cooked and the pork and broth were just perfect!!! This is a hidden gem in Pembroke Pines!!!

Sooo...I have to knock 1 star off. I'd really take 1.5 off if I could. I've had more than a few times of getting nothing but odds and ends in my saki maki and negi hamachi. Like, such little odds and ends that the filling is practically liquidy it is so smooshy. Not yummy. We're still going back, but the filling issue has happened often enough to warrant an update.

In for lunch; a sushi bento box and a Sapporo beer. Bento box comes with a miso soup, California roll or tuna roll, 2 gyoza, small house salad with ginger dressing + what you decide as additional, I went with the sushi and it brought 4 pieces on rice; 2 salmon, 1 shrimp and 1 tuna. Service was excellent and food was good; only thing I would change is the soy sauce... Not a fan (might even bring my own in next time). If in the area, a must try! I will be back

I am an avid sushi/Japanese restaurant goer, and to say the least I was impressed with Mikan. It is a tiny restaurant, like many of the good "hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but still had a very modern clean feel to it. Very picked up, neat and calm with classical music playing in the background. Our server Mona was very nice and attentive. I ordered the nebiyaki udon noodle bowl which was absolutely amazing, super flavorful and satisfying. The uni tasted very fresh as well. I will definitely be going back again!!!!

  • Nighthawk H.

Sum ting Wong with this place. I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon and it tasted burnt so I returned it. I ordered the gyoza instead and the meat tasted sour. I informed the waitress about this and she just took it away not commenting on what I said. We got the bill and nothing was taken off. We asked the server why we should pay for food that was not cooked correctly so she spoke to a manager. The manager took off the Nabeyaki but we still had to pay for the gyoza (because that makes sense). I just paid with my Visa Signature and will be disputing the charge. The Tonkatsu was decent though.

    (1)
  • Ryan F.

Ordered tonkotsu, nabeyaki and gyoza. Gyoza was literally sour, sent it back. Nabeyaki was burned, sent it back. Tonkotsu was good but there wasn't any meat in it and the egg was not cooked properly. Do not be fooled, this is not a real ramen joint. What's worse, when we got the bill they took nothing off. So basically horrible customer service and potentially harmful food. Beware

The owners are a sweet couple who've hired equally nice servers. The sushi is quite good and very high quality. They always have something interesting on the specials, such as enoki mushrooms in a butter sauce, mussels steamed in sake, grilled pork belly, or ginger tuna steak. The prices make this the best sushi deal around, and the staff enjoy suggesting new items. We visit a couple of times each month to enjoy the carefully prepared hand rolls and jazz playing in the background. We just hope the character doesn't change as people discover it!

  • Melany U.

Not 5 stars because the Thai doughnuts were super doughy and they only served it with 1 tablespoon of condensed milk. Gyozas I always have pan fried but the waitress said only deep fried or steamed. I asked for eel sauce and again just 1 tablespoon of it. Other than that the bagel roll was delicious (a little too much rice for me) and so was my husbands Nabeyaki Udon soup. The soup was the star of the meal that's why I was generous with the 4 star rating. Not a place I would make my go to sushi place but I wouldn't refuse to go back either.

Delicious sushi and wonderful service. I order almost weekly from Mikan. Their Spicy Crunchy Roll is my all time favorite, my husband loves their Spicy Conch appetizer, and my daughter loves their Seaweed Salad. The food is always delicious and fast. Their waitresses are always friendly and greet you with a smile. A must go! =)

We keep finding ourselves here all. The. Time. Let's talk comfort food. I swear, this ramen and udon is top-notch, legit, and solves problems in real time. Soy (shoyu) ramen was the special last time and all I've got to say is WHY ISN'T THIS ON THE REGULAR MENU?! It was INSANELY delicious!! My husband forgot he had ever had shoyu ramen before because it has NEVER tasted so good. Curry udon is still my go-to noodle bowl and makes me giddy with happiness to dig in. Guys, Japanese food should *always* taste so good.

Love this place! Fresh, excellent quality, beautifully presented dishes with good service! Most of us ordered rolls to share, which came out quickly and were fabulous, Black dragon roll is my fave...no....spider roll....I give up, it was all wonderful. One of our party ordered a chicken teriyaki which came out when the rest of us were nearly finished. Perhaps because there was a large party?

I really like this restaurant. It's close to my home so I order take out quite often. I've never had an issue with my order. We will sometimes eat in... hardly ever have to wait, even on a weekend night. The service was kind of slow once, but it was busy so I wouldn't hold it against them. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and everything always tastes good. I would recommend this place to friends looking for a local sushi place.

Very good ambiance, waitress provided AWESOME service. Calming music. Went on a Thursday night, was slightly busy however crowd noise was low. First time I've ever had sake and it was delicious!! Also had the plum wine --- not unbearably sweet --- very delicious and great desert finish to me meal-- miso soup, seaweed salad, and spicy tuna roll. Had a dinner with my coworker and I'm definitely going to bring my boyfriend here!!

I ordered delivery from them. The miso soup was piping hot and pretty good. The Spicy tuna roll was mediocre at best. My entrée was the most disappointing meal I've ever had. I ordered the curry rice expecting to open my box to a flavorful mixture of steamed veggies, curry sauce and white rice. What I ending up getting was one piece of broccoli, some rice and what looked like melted ear wax laid off to the side. I won't be ordering from this place again. To end on a positive note, the delivery time was only 15 minutes.

I've been to Mikan twice now - once for takeout, and once to dine in with my family because the takeout was satisfactory. It's a very small restaurant run by a Japanese family and they are extremely sweet and even remember me by name. Apparently Mikan used to be in Brickell for 17 years and they recently relocated to pines to be closer to their home. I love that their food is authentic and fresh. It reminds me a little of Marumi in Sunrise, but much closer, more affordable, and friendlier. Their menu is extensive and strictly Japanese (no Thai crossover here) and I'm still looking forward to trying the other items on their menu. For appetizers, I've tried the salmon carpaccio and the seafood risotto. The salmon carpaccio was fresh and perfectly sliced and portioned, and the seafood risotto - an interesting dish to see at a Japanese restaurant - was unique and delicious. Made with brown rice and plenty of seafood, it was cheesy and gooey and different than your typical Italian-style risotto. As for sushi, I've had the fried oyster roll and the volcano roll and both are tasty and generously portioned. I love that they don't skimp on the seafood. For entrees, we had the yaki soba, oyako udon, yakiniku don, and katsu curry (my favorite Japanese dish if you've read my other reviews). The yaki soba was about as good as you would expect from any other Japanese restaurant, and my brother seemed to enjoy the yakiniku don (I don't eat red meat). My extremely picky mother actually enjoyed the oyako don with its perfectly cooked udon noodles and pretty flavorful broth. I always substitute the pork katsu in the katsu curry for chicken katsu, and the staff has always been extremely accommodating. The first time I ordered it for takeout, however, very little actual curry sauce came with it. So the second time around, I expressed my concern and asked for extra curry, and they gladly obliged at no extra charge and no problem. When it came out, it was perfect! Each rice dish also comes with your choice of ginger salad or miso soup, so we mixed and matched. Mikan is officially my new favorite restaurant to get authentic Japanese food due to the overall quality and wonderful staff. I even witnessed them letting a couple into the restaurant after they (and the kitchen) had closed to dine on some sushi. They didn't turn them away or rush them even after hours. Great service! The restaurant is in a pretty obscure location but I really hope word spreads and they do well because they deserve some recognition.

Good food in a pleasant atmosphere. I had the octopus carpaccio and some pork ramen. The octopus was superb, the ramen was good. No complaints about the restaurant itself, but it was weird that every time I needed to use the restroom (3 times. Yes, I had the iced tea) I had to fight my way through a thick forest. I'm no architect, but a hallway at the back of a Japanese restaurant is an odd place for such a dense forest.

My husband and I found Mikan on yelp while searching for sushi restaurants, and were pleasantly surprised with our experience. It's a small restaurant with about 10 booths and 3-4 center tables. We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and managed to catch the last empty table of a party that was just leaving. Prices are on par with sushi restaurants in the area. We shared the sushi nachos, I ordered the nigiri combo, he had a spicy salmon roll and California roll and we had dessert. $40 so not bad at all. The food and especially the fish were all served fresh and you could still feel the cold temperature to the fish, always a good sign. My small complaints were the size of the sushi nachos appetizer. They were served individually on 3 wontons which makes it difficult for a party of 2 to share. Had we known this, we would have probably ordered something different. Also the spicy mayo they served is different from others we've tried, not really spicy and had more of a vinegary tang -- not what we expected. Other than that, we had a great meal with attentive service. If we are ever in the area again and in the mood for sushi, we would return!

OH MY GOD! Just as Nichole I was craving sushi this past Wednesday and while in the area I yelped and went with the reviews ( notice also the are listed on the AAAdvantage dinning program and have an incredible free seaweed salad when you check in from yelp) that added to the $2.50 drink special it finally convinced my boyfriend to stay since is really a small place in a regular plaza. No wonder the saying: Good things come in small package!!! So let me lay it down for you fellas: 1- The place is immaculate clean 2- The service is personalized, super fast and super friendly. The owners daughter introduced herself at the end. 3- it's not a party place, or a club. It's a sushi joint, a please to ENJOY sushi for sushi lovers. 4- The food is simply SPECTACULAR!!!. Fresh to the T, flavorful of natural flavors and not a bunch of seasoning. I highly recommend their house soup, the octopus carpaccio, the spicy conch, sashimi it just melts in your mouth and the cheesecake tempura is to die for. Will I ever return? Just CANT WAIT!!!

Finally a great Sushi and Ramen spot in Pembroke Pines worth going to! I had some Mackerel and Ikura sushi to start, and the Tonkotsu Ramen as a main dish. The sushi was excellent but the Ramen was incredible!!! Amazing noodles and super tasty roast pork and broth. I only wish that the boiled egg yolk was a little less cooked... But overall, Oishi! Very friendly staff and management! I'm definitely going back and will bring friends and family. Good start, Mikan!

Great place for a quick lunch. I was there on business trip and I went to Mikan twice in 2 days. Their sushi/sashimi is very fresh. I ordered Sushi/Sashimi lunch combo for about $13. Good portion, it comes with soup or salad. This little place is managed by a real Japanese owner so you know the sushi should be pretty original. Overall, I would recommend this place for lunch if you are around the area.

Found this little gem right here on Yelp today and wow! We just had the most amazing dinner the gyoza is the best I've ever had! The teriyaki sauce is PERFECT. And the tropical rolls were amazing. Now we are just waiting on the Thai doughnuts to arrive at our table but I'm pretty confident they will be nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend.

Mr. Ike is the owner and sushi chief. So you'll usual fine hime behind the sushi bar Choppin' and Rollin'. Holy crap is this place good. The food alone is great and it's sprinkled with great customer service and a smile. If you want authentic Japanese food and a few other sorted East Asian meals, you cannot beat this place with a set of chopsticks as far as friendliness, quality of the food and price range goes. Ask Ike for the "real" wasabi sauce, and he'll whip it right up for you. If they do no have it, as the did not the first time I visited, Ike ordered it and told me come back in a week. So I did and wham bam wasabi ma'am! It was so much better than the commercial goop you get from most Asian restaurants. I highly, highly, highly recommend Mikan for a nice quite evening out if you're starved for sushi.

This is an honest review of the new Mikan that recently opened in Pembroke Pines. They should update their Yelp page. We went on a Monday night around 6:30 PM, nobody there but we assumed that it was because just recently opened. The ambiance is nothing spectacular but simple and clean. The server, who is actually the owners wife, was friendly and attentive. She engage my wife and I in a short conversation about her new business ect. We ordered some appetizers, a few rolls, a rice dish and a noodle to get a feel of the place. Now to the food: Tuna Yakki-had excellent fresh tuna prepared with sesame oil and ponzu dressed with baby greens. Great appetizer to start with. Fried chicken livers-not so great. They were well done to the point of being dried out (I know liver is not know to be juicy, but still). The sauce was also very salty. Grilled Squid-came out cold. In other places, they grill it over a charcoal grill which gives it a smoke taste. Not here. Sushi rolls- I am very picky about my sushi rolls, so your rating may vary. Spider roll-was Ok, the rice lacked vinegar, otherwise it was fine. Spicy jalapeno mahi roll-same thing with the rice. Also it needed some other veggies to give it texture. The fish tasted fresh. The main course was decent. We ordered the beef yaki don. It was tasteless, ugh. It had cabbage, carrots, onions and bean sprouts. The sauce was light and there was maybe 5-6 pieces of beef. I've had better at mall food courts. The chicken udon was nicely done. Broth seasoned well and tasty. Overall, I wasn't impressed. I may give it another try if they work out the kinks at the new location or if they have specials going on, otherwise I'll pass.

Amazing Restaurant!! Made a reservation for 12 people the night before for lunch and when we got there everything was set up. The server recognized I was the one who spoke to her over the phone and the whole time spoke to me on a first name basis, which I loved! The sushi was amazing! Very fresh and the flavors were great. Most of my party ordered the two roll combination from the lunch specials menu. I had one friend order the bento box and she loved it and even asked to substitute one of the items and they were very accommodating. Very welcoming staff and definitely a great place for good sushi at an affordable price!

I give it three stars because the service was very good. They are very attentive. I wouldn't say the sushi is as good. The sushi is just ok. Not the greatest sushi I ever ate. Price is decent but I rather be charged a little more for some better rolls .

Good ramen in south Florida!!! Not as good as in LA or NY but definitely best so far I've had down here. The sushi is definitely pretty good and the prices are decent for what you get. Nice atmosphere at the restaurant. Definitely a place to try for dinner!

Based on the food quality (flavor, texture, and presentation), and value, this restaurant deserves five stars. The ambience is a bit lacking (a basic square layout of booths and tables in a strip mall), so I was tempted to knock off a star, but that would have put it below the average (currently 4.5 stars), so I'm giving it the full five. We decided to try this sushi bar instead of going to our regular fix RA Sushi, entirely based on the excellent Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. Every single plate was excellent, and a few were exceptional - specifically the salmon carpaccio and the Spicy Lovers roll (which is as pleasantly crunchy as it is spicy). This is a solid option for Sushi in Broward at a good value! Apparently the owner recently relocated his restaurant of the same name in downtown Miami to Pembroke Pines to be closer to home and in a less dense market. For residents of Pembroke Pines and Broward County, it's our gain! Check it out!

If you want sushi you should give them a try. Can't speak for the ramen but everything we ordered was great. We sat at the bar and spoke with the owner at length. Great guy. Original restaurant was in Brickell which local construction impacted. He works 7 days a week to "protect my investment". He knows there are uni lovers out there and has it regularly.

My fiancé and I live in Pembroke and we where looking for a new sushi place in the area and found amazing review of this place and let me tell you they don't lie. From the moment that we walked in we where greeted with big smiles. The food was amazing, really the best sushi along with the best service. Our waitress was Mona and she was a sweetheart, she explained everything in the menu in detail and gave us her most honest recommendations from the appetizer to the main course and down to the desert. Everything was absolutely impeccable! we can not wait until our next date night!

Great & friendly service. The location isn't the best but looks are deceiving. Small & quaint place. Good food & a lot of locals go there. Will definitely go again.

japanese family owned and operated. completely happy with my experience. Good japanese is hard to come by in the pines/weston area. Mikan stands out. Humble space, clean, engaging staff. Came here with moms. steamed gyozas on point. flavorful and tightly wrapped into little happy buns. don't think they were frozen no gaps between dough and filling. tuna and avocado salad great. nice citrusy dressing, big hunks of tuna, avocado was fresh, can't complain. mom got teriyaki steak cooked medium. temp on point, flavor all there no sugary thick gloop sauce. i had the katsu curry. reminded me of the curry i ate in japan. if you haven't had japanese curry try it here. japanese beers on draught, chilled glasses. extensive sushi/sashimi selections, ingredients on display at sushi bar. multiple ramen dishes. una don. curry. the stuff thats hard to find on menus at other japanese restaurants. I'm happy. give it a shot

Great restaurant and great service! The waitresses were very friendly! Real Japanese staff. Really good atmosphere for a date. Not many people so it's not too busy and loud. Plus there's great food! We had Shrimp Tempura as an appetizer, and then Nabeyaki Udon which is a really good noodle soup with delicious broth and the Rock and Roll Cooked Sushi for the main course. They had some delicious sounding unique Japanese desserts on the menu, but we passed on them because we were super full from the food. This is a great new Japanese restaurant in Pembroke Pines (just over a month old) go check it out!

The Rock n Roll is to die for! Amazing service and great atmosphere for a relaxing night of delicious sushi. If you make your way here, be sure to end your meal with the Tempura Ice Cream or the Red Bean Moochi for a twist on traditional dessert.

The staff was great and attentive, the main reason I did not give the restaurant a higher score is because of the sushi. Although it was good there was nothing that wow'ed me, I felt like it was too plan. Maybe it was the rolls I ordered? I ordered Cliente roll and Tropical roll. We also got fried squid as an appetizer. Other than that, I would definitely go back for a second try and order something else.

My new, favorite Japanese restaurant in Pembroke Pines. The udon soups are so good, and a must try. Check out their specials board by the door...one week they had pork belly like I've never tasted before. I came back the following week and they had mussels simmered in sake - wow. The servers are so friendly - it's like eating with friends. Save room for dessert! Their mochi ice cream is the best I've had. The mochi isn't hard like some other places; it's soft and chewy, and the ice cream is really great quality. The green tea, mango, and red bean mochi ice creams are my faves!

Thanks to the powers of Yelp a friend and I decided to try this place out. If there's one judgment call to make on the quality of the food, it's based on the soup. I enjoy trying a good soup and sald before my meal and I was easily impressed. I ordered a Mikan Soup which could have easily been a meal in itself and the house salad with ginger dressing. The ingredients of the soup were fresh and delightful. Each flavor could hold it's own and I confess I haven't had soup this well done in a very long time. The salad was made with very green lettuce compared to the inexpensive iceburg lettuce in most places that carry little nutritional value. The service was quick and friendly as the server chatted with us briefly and made us feel welcomed. The decor was relaxing with warm lighting and instrumental music. Clearly the restaurant takes pride in choosing quality ingredients in their dishes and it shows. I recommend this place for a nice dinner with good food with family and or friends.

Love this place. Definitely the best sushi place in Pines. The service is great and food is delicious. Recommend the dragon roll, one that has mango and the little fried doughnuts with caramel.

Not a bad place but the service is extremely slow. So the food came out looking messy. I don't mind trying again just maybe not go on a Saturday night.

The best sushi restaurant around. The tuna is spectacular. No matter how you like your tuna, you'll like it here. The hamachi is equally as fresh. The service is great and very friendly.

Took my wife to a spontaneous date night. Which turn into an one of our favorite place to add on our restaurant list. I am a big fan of noodles and of course had to try the Nabeyaki Udon. It surpassed my expectations of how GREAT it was. My wife order the special of the night, which she also enjoyed. We finished the night off with sake and dessert. If you are in the mood to have a great Japanese dish, this is your place. You won't be disappointed.

Very good service and pretty good sushi. We came down from NYC and have pretty high sushi standards. Try the mackerel sashimi and uni as well.

We were kind of insecure about it, because we went there on a sunday noon and it was empty, but for our surprise it was really good. The food was excelent and the attention very nice, later we knew that they had 2 month open. I recomend this restaurant with my eyes closed. Real Japanese food and service.

Finally, I found a Japanese restaurant, I mean attended by Japanese people. I went for lunch, the bento lunch boxes were great. Fish is fresh. I really liked it compared to other sushi places around Pembroke Pines and Weston areas.
